Camping Life
It’s not exactly roughing it. But, it’s all about fun!
We haven’t been into the camping world for very long. And, in the short time we have been doing it we have had some great times and some challenging times!
There was the time when we lost our awning when the Bounder was hit with a microburst while visiting Lake Holiday. And, it was 6:00 am and we were still sleeping! I made some rookie mistakes like not venting the water heater and ending with the tank splitting open. Live & learn! I won’t go into the mechanical issues and the bills that we had.
The Springdale was a great little camper. It was nice to not have all the setup and breakdown. We barely got to know her before she was gone! It went up in smoke after being part of an arsonist’s plan to burn some stuff.
Being avid campers ourselves, I decided to launch a product line to help campers personalize their campers and campsites. Check out Hitch and Giggles to learn more.
The Fleetwood Bounder
In July 2020, my wife and I purchased a 2000 Fleetwood Bounder class A motorhome. We had to learn in a short period of time if we were going to take advantage of the remaining season. It wasn’t the most luxurious coach on the road and it needed a little bit of work. I was up for it! After getting some suspension work done, and rebuilding the dinette, she was much more accommodating and easier to drive. In 2021, we decided to get a golf cart after discovering Lake Holiday. The park has almost 700 permanent lots. And, while we were just tourists there, we started making friends after a few years of visiting.
The Keystone Springdale
Prepping the Bounder, hooking up the trailer for the golf cart, and driving to the campgrounds only to spend an hour or two setting up…that got a bit old pretty quickly. So, after much consideration, and some help from our friends, we decided to put down some roots at Lake Holiday. We bought lot 5 and the Keystone Springdale that was sitting on it. Having a permanent spot was a great move. All we had to do was show up and hang out!
The Keystone Hideout
Before you start thinking that we have commitment issues, understand that we were kinda forced to get a new camper when ours…burnt down. We were collateral damage when the park model next to us fell victim to arson. Before we knew it, we found a great deal on yet another Keystone. This time it was the Hideout which happened to have the same floorplan as the Springdale with an improved bathroom. We it will be delivered on March 1st and we will be back in business!
